Kling 4.0: Everything We Know (Specs, Flash, Release)
Kling 4.0 explained: reported specs, Flash vs full model, 30 s clips, keyframes and references, how it compares to Seedance 2.5 and Kling 3.0, and what to use today.
Kling 4.0 is Kuaishou's new AI video model: a Flash version went into limited early access on 28 September 2026 (3–20 second clips at 720p), and the full model was reported to launch in mid-October 2026 with clips of 3–30 seconds, up to 10 keyframes, up to 15 combined references and stereo audio. 4K, 10-bit HDR, two-minute extension and multi-clip editing have been announced as "coming soon". Kling 4.0 is not available in Framiq yet — today you can use Kling 3.0, Kling Omni (o3) and Seedance 2.5 for 30-second clips.
A word on sources before the details: we have not tested Kling 4.0. Everything about it below comes from Kuaishou's announcements and third-party reporting, and we label it that way. Specs at launch often change, so treat numbers as "reported", not as guarantees.

What's new in Kling 4.0
Longer clips
The jump to 30 seconds per generation for the full model is the headline. It puts Kling 4.0 in the same bracket as Seedance 2.5, which already does up to 30 seconds in a single shot. Longer clips matter less for length itself than for storytelling: a whole beat — setup, action, reaction — fits in one take, without seams.
Up to 10 keyframes
Keyframes are fixed images the video must pass through. Most models offer a start frame and maybe an end frame; ten keyframes, if they work as described, means you could storyboard a clip image by image and let the model animate between them. That is a strong tool for ads, product reveals and anything where the composition at specific moments is non-negotiable.
"Omni Reference": up to 15 references
Kling 4.0 is reported to accept up to 15 combined references — characters, objects, locations, style. That's fewer than Seedance 2.5's reported multimodal budget (around 50, including 30 images), but it continues the direction Kling took with its Omni models: give the model several sources and let it assemble the scene.
Stereo audio
Native audio has become standard on top video models; stereo is the reported upgrade here. For social content played on phones, the difference is modest. For anything going into an edit or onto a big screen, it is welcome.
Announced but not shipped
4K output, 10-bit HDR, video extension up to 2 minutes and multi-clip editing were announced as "coming soon". Until they are available, don't plan a production around them.
Kling 4.0 Flash vs Kling 4.0
Flash is the fast, lighter tier: shorter clips (3–20 s), 720p, and early access only. Flash versions are usually meant for iteration — testing an idea quickly and cheaply before committing to the full model.
The full model is the one with 30-second clips, higher resolution, keyframes and references, as reported.
A sensible workflow once both are widely available: draft with Flash, render the keeper with the full model. That is the same draft-then-final logic you can already use today with Seedance 2.0 Fast or Mini before a Seedance 2.5 render.

How to read this honestly:
- On paper, Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 now compete on length (30 s). Kling 4.0's keyframes are the most distinctive reported feature; Seedance 2.5's larger reference budget and video editing are its strengths.
- Character consistency: Seedance 2.5 is the strongest model we offer for keeping the same face across shots, largely because 30 image references let it see a face from many angles. Whether Kling 4.0's 15 references match that is something only side-by-side tests will tell.
- Resolution: if 1080p or 4K delivery is a hard requirement, Kling 4.0's announced specs are interesting — once they actually ship. Seedance 2.5 runs at up to 720p in Framiq.

What to use today in Framiq
Kling 4.0 is not in Framiq. Here's what to pick instead, depending on the job:
- 30-second clips, characters, dialogue: Seedance 2.5. Up to 30 reference images, start and end frames, native audio, and editing or extending an existing video by attaching it as a reference. Our Seedance 2.5 tutorial covers every mode.
- Kling's look on short shots: Kling 3.0 or Kling Omni (o3), both in the Video tab.
- Quick drafts: Seedance 2.0 Fast or Mini, Kling 2.5 Turbo, Veo 3.1 Fast or Lite.
- Longer than 30 seconds: Extra Long (Pro plan, experimental) chains Seedance clips with continuity into one video of up to 5 minutes — see long AI videos.
- The same character in every shot: create a character from photos, optionally run the 3D scan, and tag it with
@Namein any prompt. Only use your own face or someone who has consented.
How to prompt Kling 4.0 (and Kling 3.0 today)
Kling models respond well to the same structure as most video models: subject, action, camera, light, style, sound. A prompt that works today on Kling 3.0 is a good starting point for 4.0:
A ceramicist in a sunlit workshop shapes a bowl on a spinning wheel, clay on her hands,
then lifts her head and smiles. Close-up on the hands, then slow tilt up to her face.
Warm window light, dust in the air, shallow depth of field, documentary style.
Sound: the hum of the wheel, birds outside.
If Kling 4.0's keyframes work as announced, the natural way to use them will be one short description per keyframe:
Keyframe 1: product box closed on a marble table.
Keyframe 2: hands open the lid, soft light spills out.
Keyframe 3: close-up of the watch inside, slow rotation.
Keyframe 4: the watch on a wrist, city lights behind.
Smooth transitions, slow camera, premium commercial look.

Common mistakes when a new model launches
- Rebuilding a pipeline on announced features. "Coming soon" features (4K, HDR, 2-minute extension) can arrive late or differ from the announcement. Build on what's shipped.
- Judging a model from cherry-picked demos. Launch reels are the best outputs, not the average. Test your own prompts, especially with people and hands.
- Comparing with different prompts. Run the same prompt, same duration, same ratio on both models, several times.
- Forgetting labels. If you publish realistic AI video on TikTok or Instagram, both platforms require it to be labelled as AI-generated (TikTok has an "AI-generated" label when posting).
